The Democrats Miss With Offensive Memorial Day Tweet
Memorial Day is when we remember the brave sacrifice of those who have served for our freedom. We spend time with family and friends in a country that is free, knowing that this freedom came at a great cost. Unless youβre the Democrat Party, in which case Memorial Day is about Obama eating ice cream before an adoring press.
Hereβs what @TheDemocrats, the official Twitter account of the Democrat Party, tweeted out to mark the beginning of Memorial Day weekend:
Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone! pic.twitter.com/TMBSu187Pb
— The Democrats (@TheDemocrats) May 22, 2015
With that, the backlash began. Some pointed out that Memorial Day isn’t best described as “happy.”

A few pointed out that The Democrats post pictures of Obama for every occasion, and it’s getting a little weird.
@TheDemocrats These last six years you've become rather cultish with theses types of tweets. All Barack, all the time, eh? No halo shot?

@TheDemocrats Could you be anymore disrespectful to our fallen heroes. This is sickening. Memorial day is to remember Heroes not Obama

Some simply thought The Democrats missed the point of Memorial Day in this tone-deaf tweet.
"@TheDemocrats: Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone! pic.twitter.com/NBRj2a2d0l" Of all the photos they could use, they go with this?

@Dan12R @TheDemocrats because memorial day weekend is all about eating ice cream…right? *facepalm*

And some look forward to Obama being remembered on another day that (sorry, Democrats) isnβt about him, either.

Please, Democrats, think before you tweet. Think about what Memorial Day really means to you, or at least what it means for others. Unless you think it’s about loving Obama and eating ice cream. In that case, the tweet was a home run.
