The CNN Undercard Debate, As Seen on Twitter
The undercard debate featured Lindsey Graham, Bobby Jindal, George Pataki, and Rick Santorum, trying to battle their way into support that will get them onto the main stage. Here were some of the highlights, according to Twitter.
Some would rather not even have undercard debates anymore:
this should be the last undercard debate. if only to starve their campaigns of oxygen so we can see where their 2-3% are distributed.

In the opening statements, Bobby Jindal went straight for Trump:
Jindal goes strait after Trump. Ha!
— Nels (@debitking) September 16, 2015
Bobby Jindal: "I don't have a reality show."
— S.E. Cupp (@secupp) September 16, 2015
Jindal: "Let's stop treating Donald Trump like a Republican." #GOPDebate

However, when the first questions were all about Trump, Twitter was ready for everyone to move on:
Three straight questions on Trump & GOP infighting to start. #GOPdebate

Just like the last short table it's basically just: "Why is Trump beating all of you?" #CNNDebate

WHY are they still talking about Trump??? Don't we have a ton of policy stuff we should cover??#CNNDebate #GOPDebate

Graham went on the attack:
Why Graham interviewing Santorum?

Graham is having a very strong debate. I mean, if it mattered.

But what was up with the weird questions?
At this point I feel like they're mostly just stringing together unrelated words. #CNNDebate

On a TV break, a couple of Tweeters weighed in on how it was going:

While we're on a break, my scorecard. Graham is out to a strong lead. Santorum in second. pic.twitter.com/p4NzNE0hcC

Then, it got weird. In talking about filibusters, Jindal admitted how long people can go without a β¦ break:
Bobby Jindal admires big bladders.
— Jim Geraghty (@jimgeraghty) September 16, 2015
Apparently having a big bladder is a big deal… #CNNDebate
— Dina Fraioli (@DinaFraioli) September 16, 2015
Jindal: "I have a great deal of respect for these senators who've got big bladders." #CNNdebate
— S.E. Cupp (@secupp) September 16, 2015
Jindal respects Senators with big bladders. Okay… time to hit the Jack Daniels. #CNNDebate

What if we tried something else?

Everybody was talking about Lindsey Graham:
Also, who knew Lindsay Graham had a personality?

But who is this Pataki guy?

Things we all wish we didn't have to hear: "Gov. Pataki, let's start with you." #zzzzzzzz #gopdebate

So who won?
To me, the undercard #CNNDebate was a three-way tie between Graham, Pataki, Jindal. Santorum the clear loser.
— Avik Roy (@Avik) September 16, 2015
Honestly, if I had to pick a winner in the 1st debate, it might be Graham by a small edge. He's the only one who showed personality.
— Ed Morrissey (@EdMorrissey) September 16, 2015
Winner: Graham by a landslide for his increased drinking platform. I really didn't hear much of the rest. #CNNDebate
— Jazz Shaw (@JazzShaw) September 16, 2015
— Dean Clancy (@DeanClancy) September 16, 2015
Well, that was very interesting. I think I'm not alone in believing Graham won it. He'll surge to a stunning 3%.
