Should Christians Be Involved in Politics?
'From a Father's Heart' continues ...
When people see a Christian leader involved in political discussions or actions, they sometimes wonder, “What are you doing there? Why would a preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ try to have any kind of influence on people and their political decisions?”
Well, I want to make it very clear what I’m doing and why I do it: I want to help get God’s arms around everyone. I want everybody to tune their ears to hear the Father’s heart, understand His will, and seek to fulfill it.
God wants the very best for all of us. When we elect political leaders, we choose people who will either honor certain principles or ignore them and cast them aside. They put policy in place. Laws are passed. And those laws will either be a burden or a blessing.
We have the privilege and responsibility of choosing our leaders, so if we want them to accomplish good things, we need to choose wisely. God says he will give us wisdom. He makes it very clear in the book of James that if we lack wisdom, just ask. Our Father is anxious to give it to us. We need God’s wisdom in every decision — including elections.
Should Christianity impact local and national leadership? Can God use flawed leaders? In this latest episode of “From a Father’s Heart,” James discusses these critical questions.
