Former GOP candidate and Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina announced Wednesday she is endorsing Sen. Ted Cruz for president. “Ted Cruz has stood up for our right to bear arms,” she declared at a Cruz rally in Miami. “He has fought for our religious liberty. He has fought for our sovereignty. And he has won over and over and over.”

She said front-runner Donald Trump would not challenge the status quo. “Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are two sides of the same coin. They are not going to reform the system, they are the system,” she said, “So when the establishment says Ted Cruz is too conservative. he’s too much of a fighter. He won’t get along. I say, ‘You go, Ted!”

Fiorina’s endorsement comes six days before Florida’s critical primary. “You have a very important job on Tuesday,” she told the crowd. “It’s time to take the party back. It’s time to take our government back. So it’s time to unite behind the only one who can, Ted Cruz.”

Cruz appeared thrilled to get Fiorina’s backing, saying in a statement:

UPDATE: In other good news for Cruz, a new NBC News/WSJ Poll shows the Texas Senator pulling to within three points of Trump nationally and beating him handily in a one-on-one matchup. “The new NBC/WSJ poll also shows Trump trailing his rivals in hypothetical one-on-one match-ups,” Mark Murray writes. “Cruz and Kasich best Trump by an identical 17 points, 57 percent to 40 percent, while Rubio beats Trump by 13 points, 56 percent to 43 percent.”
