Can Our Children Decide Their Gender?

By Janet Boynes Published on December 14, 2023

If you give a five year old the choice between chicken and broccoli for dinner or a bowl of ice cream, the ice cream will win almost every time. Their concern would be taste before health. Why would they care about calories or fat content? The choices that children make, even into adolescence shouldnโ€™t surprise any of us.

For the most part, they live a carefree life and leave the weight of responsibilities to the ones that care for them. Their time here on earth does not give them the experience needed to make proper decisions. Laws are in place to protect children and others from bad choices they may make.

That being said, what government official and/or legislative body decided to go against the parents that gave birth to the child, and give that  child the right to choose their gender? To change their body to coincide with their choice? College students often have a difficult time deciding which career path to choose. Many register their majors as “undecided.” How can we expect young children to choose their gender for the rest of their lives?

Many Parents Have Been Fooled by a Corrupt Society

Something has gone terribly wrong, from secret meetings at schools to encourage gender alterations, to the Bureau of Statistics allowing blank birth certificates so children can make up their own minds. We have ignored Godโ€™s biological creation of male and female. We’ve placed this choice in the innocent minds of children. We encourage them to use their emotional and mental state of being to decide if they want to be a male, female, or neither.

Parents who have adopted “gender-affirming” parenting have given ear to a corrupt society that promotes perversions and sensuality. They want their children to feel they understand and be their friend, rather than bringing Biblical correction and instruction to them. Children are lost because their parents are lost in a web of sexual exploitation and idolatry, loving themselves above God. Many parents seek the approval of men rather than God.

Before God, how can we justify laws that attempt to keep them from cigarettes and alcohol, but do not stop them from disfiguring themselves? How can we encourage them to ignore their biological makeup to become something they are not? What can we tell the God who created the family structure, who called for a man to leave his mother and father and be joined to his wife to begin a family? Do we tell God He got it wrong? That it was a mistake to create reproductive organs when he should have made us asexual? Why would God want his innocent little children to make such horrible decisions, changing the image He created into something He never meant for them to be?

Is this really children’s choosing? Or is it the choice of adults who have been corrupted by a system that exploits children for their own sexual appetites? What would a child know about their gender or sexuality without someone exposing them to these ideas? What does a second grader need to know about his or her sexual orientation or preference? Letโ€™s go back to basics. Teach those babies math, reading, science, with biology that explains that there are only two genders โ€” male and female created He them!

Confusing Children With the Idea That God Made a Mistake

If we can get children to believe they can decide their gender, then we have ultimately said that God made a mistake. We have said the Creator of the universe, and of all that we see, didnโ€™t actually form unique and exquisitely designed bodies with purpose and beauty, or people meant to be who they are by His design.

If people believe an act of their mind can change their biological identity, they are under strong delusions that hold no merit scientifically or spiritually. A biological boy can think as hard as he wants to think, dress as feminine as he desires and receive as many hormones as the law will allow, but it will never change his DNA or his sex to that of a woman. His body will never be able to function totally and completely like a woman’s. The way God made us will always be the perfect plan.

The gender push confuses children. It makes them insecure and unsure of themselves. It removes their confidence in the God who loves them unconditionally. We should never trust such decisions to a child. Children need guidance. Children need instruction. Children need love and nurturing so that they can understand the delusions and deceptive ways that are trying to destroy who they are and take away their purpose. They need us to cover them in prayer and keep them focused, so they can grow up to be the individuals God intended โ€” not what people want to make them be.
