Republican presidential candidate and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson said Wednesday that he will not attend Thursday night’s GOP presidential debate and that, given Super Tuesday’s primary results, he does not “see a political path forward.” According to The Washington Post, Carson’s campaign is “all but over.” Carson stopped just short of saying he was dropping out of the race for the White House.

However, GOP candidate John Kasich, speaking to his supporters in a Grand Blank, MI rally, said Carson told Kasich that he’s ending his campaign. “I just had a very, very nice conversation with Dr. Ben Carson,” Kasich said, “who announced today that he’s suspending his campaign,” adding that he felt Carson had “held his head high.”

Nevertheless, Carson has yet to make a formal announcement. In a letter to his supporters, Carson stressed that the “grassroots movement on behalf of ‘We the People’ will continue” and promised to say more during his speech Friday at CPAC in Washington, D.C.
