Bannon Out at Breitbart

By Published on January 9, 2018

Executive chairman of Breitbart News Steve Bannon will be stepping down, The New York Times reported Tuesday. The announcement was made as the former White House aide came under fire for disparaging comments he made in a new book by author Michael Wolff.

President Donald Trump released a statement Friday, the day the comments came to light, declaring that when Bannon left the White House, he “not only lost his job, he lost his mind.” Trump then gave Bannon the nickname “sloppy Steve.”

“I’m proud of what the Breitbart team has accomplished in so short a period of time in building out a world-class news platform,” Bannon said in a statement.

Breitbart CEO Larry Solov praised Bannon but did not provide a reason for his departure.

“Steve is a valued part of our legacy, and we will always be grateful for his contributions, and what he has helped us to accomplish,” Solov said.
