Daniel Akbari practiced law in Iran until his mid-thirties. He graduated from Tehran University School of Law in Qom, Iran and is admitted to practice before Iran’s Supreme Court. The Iranian Bar Association certified him a “Number One Attorney,” meaning he is qualified to handle solo representation in death penalty cases. Mr. Akbari worked with Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shirin Ebadi’s Defenders of Human Rights, and holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Texas State University and a Graduate Certificate in Homeland Security from the Bush School of Government and Public Service. He has handled hundreds of cases involving Islamic Criminal and Family Law.

He has written two books: Honor Killing: A Professional’s Guide to Sexual Relations and Ghayra Violence from the Islamic Sources and New Jihadists and Islam.
