Author Jerry Jenkins Releases Third Novel in The Chosen Series
Jenkins has written a series of novels on The Chosen, the film series created by his son Dallas.
Jerry Jenkins, New York Times bestselling author of over 200 books (including the Left Behind series), has released the third book in a series of novels about the characters in The Chosen, the hit show about who Jesus was through the perspective of his twelve disciples. His son Dallas Jenkins created The Chosen. The novels the elder Jenkins wrote are each based on a season of the show. Book three, The Chosen: And I Will Give You Rest, is based on the show’s third season.
Jenkins said he’s excited to be a part of the project. He explained that the writers of the show take a Bible verse or verses and create a plausible scene based on those verses for the TV series. “It’s fictitious, but it’s plausible and people can say, ‘That may have been the way it happened.'” He gets to do more of that in novel form. “It’s great fun to do.
“Our whole goal with the entire project, whether it be the TV series or the books, or any ancillary products with it, is that we don’t want it to substitute for Scripture. We want it to drive people back to their Bibles, back to their churches. We want people to know and love Jesus better.”
