We thank God for the news that Asia Bibi, the 47-year-old Christian woman accused of blasphemy, has been acquitted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Now is the time for an even greater call to prayer.

This is a very dangerous situation — for Asia, her family, and for the judges who acquitted her. Some Islamist groups are protesting furiously —burning tires, blocking the streets, and calling for the judges to be killed.

In 2011 when the provincial governor spoke out defending Asia and questioning the blasphemy laws, he was assassinated by his own bodyguard who was “defending Islam.”

Christians in Pakistan live under threat of danger constantly and suffer persecution that you and I can hardly imagine. Join me in praying for Asia to be able to leave the country safely and that the Supreme Court, who did the right thing, will be protected.
