Time again to pause for Al’s Afternoon Tea, a chance to sip and savor some of the latest headlines.

Trump Turning Tables, Gets Rousing Welcome in Harlem After Day in Court

Democrats: We’ll keep Trump pinned down in NYC for weeks with this lawfare trial to keep him off the campaign trail.

Trump: I’ll campaign all over the Big Apple, drawing wildly enthusiastic crowds, and put New York in play.

Democrats: He’s not Hitler. He’s the Roadrunner and we’re Wile E. Coyote. Now, where is our latest Acme bomb-making kit?

Tuesday was Day Two of jury selection in the “hush money” case against Donald Trump drawn up by George Soros-funded D.A. Alvin Bragg and Biden DOJ operatives. But that’s not the big story.

After court adjourned for the day, Trump went to Harlem, where he was greeted by wildly enthusiastic crowds. (Harlem. Not what anyone would call MAGA Country.) Trump didn’t stop just anywhere in Harlem, though; he went to the bodega where Jose Alba used to work. Alba, you may recall, was a clerk there when a thug tried to kill him. Alba defended himself, fatally stabbing the thug, only to be charged with murder by — you guess it — Alvin Bragg.

As the crowd shouted “four more years,” Trump decried what has happened to his beloved city over the last three years. He vowed that his first task will be to stop crime. He then zeroed in on what the illegal immigration invasion is doing to residents of color in the Big Apple. “The African American community are now not getting jobs, the migrants are taking their jobs that are here illegally,” he said. “Hispanics are not getting jobs.”

The Street and the Ivory Tower

Meanwhile, Trump’s trial coverage is offering an opportunity to show the difference between the street and the ivory tower.

On MSNBC, Joy Reid was ecstatic that Trump is being prosecuted by — in her words — “my DEI.”

For me, there is something wonderfully poetic about the fact that the first person to criminally prosecute Donald Trump is a black Harvard grad. And a black woman is doing the same exact thing in Georgia. And a black woman forced you to pay a $175 million fine. Donald Trump is being held to account by the very multicultural, multiracial democracy that he’s trying to dismantle. Go DEI. My DEIs are bringing it home.

Meanwhile, far below her on the streets of New York City, little children of color were shouting, “I love you, Trump!”

Somewhere in the Democratic National Committee, someone smarter than Reid’s bosses saw that clip and reached for a bottle of Advil. 

Joe Biden was also hanging out with children yesterday. A group escorted him (helped him?) out of his childhood home in Scranton. I leave you the video without further comment.

Garland Insists Biden Not Impaired. Notecards Say Otherwise

Attorney General Merrick Garland insisted Tuesday that Joe Biden has shown no signs of cognitive impairment.

(If that is the case, then why aren’t criminal charges being filed right this moment, since Special Counsel Robert Hur pointed to such an impairment when refusing to pursue charges in the classified documents case?)

“I have seen the president effectively guide the members of the department, of his Cabinet, and his military,” Garland told a congressional hearing. “The president has no impairment.”

Remember when justice was blind and the Attorney General wasn’t?

Check this out. While meeting with Iraq Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’a Al-Sudani, Biden made his first public comments about Iran’s attack on Israel over the weekend. According to the teleprompter note cards, Biden now has to be instructed when to pause.

It’s a good thing we’re not looking at a potential massive war in the Middle East, where no cards can be written quickly enough to tell the Commander-in-Chief what to say and what not to say. 

Once-Adorable Katie Couric Finds Fancy Phrase for “Deplorables”: Calls Basis of Trump Support “Anti-Intellectualism”

The snobbery of the elite knows no bounds. Katie Couric, who long ago was a journalist, tried explaining to Bill Maher the root of support for Donald Trump. Her answer: MAGA world is “anti-intellectualism.”

What’s “anti-intellectualism”? It means you can define what a woman is.

Couric also blames “class resentment.” Really, Katie? Who are the ones shouting “make the rich pay their fair share”? Oh, for the Katie who was a local reporter at Washington’s WRC when the world was young. 

Kennedy Takes Down HHS Secretary on Abortion

Have we done anything today to deserve Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana? We’d like to think so, but we’re just not worthy! When he’s not offering politically pointed, hilarious one-liners that would put Will Rogers to shame, Kennedy is wrecking clueless and conniving witnesses in Senate hearings.

Here, when questioning Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, he laid bare the radicalism and barbarism of the Biden administration approach to unrestricted abortion. Becerra ducks and dodges and refuses to answer.

As Sen. Katie Britt would later draw out, Becerra is okay with taxpayers helping pay for such abortions.
