Al’s Afternoon Tea: Nuclear Security Advisor Dreams of ‘Queering Nuclear Weapons’ as Three Powers Contemplate Coordinated Strike
Welcome back in for Al’s Afternoon Tea, our chance to sit and sample the latest.
Tim Walz has his big night at the Democratic National Convention tonight, right after returning from covert ops against the Russians on the Ukraine border and preparing to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to their third straight Super Bowl win. More on the convention in a bit.
But first up, some very serious business.

The nuclear threat against the United States after three years of the Biden-Harris administration: Very, very bad.
The New York Times is reporting that in March, Joe Biden approved a revised a top secret nuclear strategy. The document, titled simply “Nuclear Employment Guidance,” is a fresh look seeking “to prepare the United States for possible coordinated nuclear challenges from China, Russia and North Korea.”
What potential hell hath the Biden-Harris administration wrought? This is not me saying the following, by the way. It’s The New York Times:
The new document is a stark reminder that whoever is sworn in next Jan. 20 will confront a changed and far more volatile nuclear landscape than the one that existed just three years ago.
(They left off “… when Biden took office.”)
As many predicted, going all in against Russia to protect Ukraine put Russia in closer league with our Communist enemy, China. (And don’t forget a soon-to-be nuclear Iran has also gotten even more chummy with Russia and China in the meantime.)
Why did Russia invade Ukraine? Because after our disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, which Biden orchestrated, Putin felt emboldened. Former President Donald Trump had kept him in check, but Biden-Harris may as well have been at the beach playing checkers while he plotted and schemed.
And what are we left with? Now, the threat of a coordinated nuclear assault from China, Russia, and North Korea.
But at least the Biden-Harris administration is taking the nuclear threat seriously, right? Right?!
Wrong.
Fox News: “Biden-Harris Department of Energy Official Calls for ‘Queering Nuclear Weapons’ as Part of Radical DEI Agenda”
Sneha Nair is a special assistant with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration. One of her major goals is to eliminate the industry’s “white supremacy,” insisting that DEI measures deter “inside threats” to nuclear facilities. More on point, as Fox News reported this morning, she calls for “queering nuclear weapons.”
“Finally, queer theory informs the struggle for nuclear justice and disarmament,” she wrote last year. “Queer theory helps to shift the perception of nuclear weapons as instruments for security by telling the hidden stories of displacement, illness, and trauma caused by their production and testing.”
When the powers in Moscow, Beijing, Pyongyang, and Tehran hear that, they must think, “Dang, how easy are they going to make this for us?”
A note to the Trump campaign: These two stories prove it’s time for a 2024 version of the famous “Daisy” commercial of 1964.
Ukraine’s Parliament Bans Ukrainian Orthodox Church
As of March 2024, U.S. taxpayers had given $175 billion of congressionally approved aid to Ukraine. As just mentioned, our war effort against Russia has pushed Putin into the arms of China’s Chairman Xi, to our grave endangerment. And for what?
Joe Biden and those who support continuing the Ukraine war effort with our tax dollars keep telling us it is to “preserve democracy” and “freedom.” But has anyone told that to the Ukrainians? The nation’s first presidential elections were tossed aside, and now its parliament has passed a bill banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) over its historic ties to the Russian Orthodox Church.
As Post Millennium reports, the bill bans any religious group connected to or sympathetic toward Russia from operating inside the country. Already, UOC churches and monasteries have been seized, with priests and bishops arrested for alleged Russian sympathies. UOC clergy have nine months to prove they’ve severed all ties to the Russian Orthodox Church. Those ties go back to 988 A.D.
Obamas ‘Light Up’ Democratic Convention
Can we now all admit that Michelle Obama is a better speaker than her husband, whose oratory skills have always been overrated?
The former president and first lady brought their show home to Chicago last night, with Michelle delivering her remarks with her distinctive “I’m still sort of miserable in America despite my most fabulous life” brand of passion and eloquence.
She ripped Trump for sowing division and attacking her family — apparently forgetting that her husband used the FBI and other three-letter agencies to spy on, then sabotage Trump’s presidency, as well as the fact that his minions have been working overtime to imprison Trump ever since the last election.
Still, to her credit, Michelle Obama does have a gift for connecting with audiences in ways Kamala Harris can only dream of.

Barack Obama got the crowd roaring with his innate ability to say nothing while projecting a sense of profundity. He also managed to be hysterically funny — for example, when he — Barack Obama — accused Donald Trump of creating a “cult of personality.” Also, in another attempted dig at Trump, he declared, “We don’t need four more years of bluster and bumbling and chaos” — a line that immediately evoked thoughts of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, rather than the Orange Man.
However, it was Michelle who offered the night’s most entertaining line.

Estimated value: The Obama’a relatively new coastal estate in Martha’s Vineyard is worth about $20 million. This goes with their $8 million crib in the District of Columbia and beachfront home in Hawaii, which they bought for $8.7 million after leaving office.
Harris’s Devastating Capital Gains Tax Plans
Michelle Obama may not trust people – other than herself, her wealthy pals, and Democratic donors — who have made their fortunes. And Sen. Bernie Sanders may have no problem attacking billionaires before being billionairs right before a boastful billionaire takes the stage (as happened last night with Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker.)
But it’s Kamala Harris who, as a presidential candidate, wants to snatch wealth away by imposing a record-high 44.6% capital gains tax. Plus, she wants to put a 25% tax on unrealized capital gains for wealthy individuals. (These plans always start with the wealthy, but never stay there.)
What does that mean for those of us in the real world?
Say your grandfather bought some farmland in the distant past for a few thousand bucks. Your family has worked the land for two and a half generations and it’s now worth millions. Harris wants 25% of those millions, even if you haven’t sold the land and are not making millions from it.
Here’s an example from football: Art Rooney paid the NFL a $2,500 franchise fee for the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 1933. As of last year, the Steelers – still owned by the Rooney family — are worth an estimated $4.625 billion. You do the math.

Harris’s plan — aside from being a communist-friendly redistribution of wealth that is entirely unconstitutional — will also send American wealth scurrying overseas. As Bob Byrne of the apolitical financial site TheStreet.com wrote this morning, “The taxing of unrealized gains, no matter what the level of wealth, will drive assets, jobs and companies away from the United States.”
And we’re back to the theme we started with this morning about the Democrats operating principle: Make America Weak Again.
But we don’t want to end on a downer.
Oh, Snap
The Harris camp tried the ol’ “he’s a racist’ bit again yesterday, attacking Donald Trump for visiting a Michigan town called Howell where some neo-Nazis gathered last month.
This is especially rich, considering a bunch of people who want to exterminate Jews are having a ball at the Democratic National Convention right now without any pushback from Harris or Tim Walz.
As can be expected, one of Harris’s allies in the media tried to nail Trump on it. The response was pure Trump.

Meanwhile, anti-Israel protestors interrupted Nancy Pelosi’s interview last night with Late Show host Stephen Colbert. Note to the protesters: It’s not a good idea to cross Nancy Pelosi. Just ask Joe Biden, if you can find him.
