Proving that these days, if you just yell loudly enough, you’ll get what you want, President Trump’s Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta resigned Friday. He said Democrats’ demands for his head over his role as a US Attorney in brokering the lenient Jeffrey Epstein plea deal in 2008 had become a “distraction,” and were causing the media to ignore the incredible successes of the Trump economy.

Some Questions for Democrats

Of course, the media hardly needed an 11-year-old accusation to ignore the incredible success of Trump’s economy, since they can always find a distraction to keep from reporting on that.  But if they’d like to stop being distracted, here are a few questions they could ask that are far more germane to the real scandal about how the Epstein case was handled. Try asking these questions of the Democrats who were baying for Acosta to resign:

Why are you focusing all your righteous indignation on the only person who actually got an admission of guilt from Epstein, got him branded as a convicted sexual predator, and made the case that’s allowing his victims to come forward now?  Is it because a decade later, he took an appointment from Trump, and this is your way of trying to connect Trump to this scandal?

Do you realize that Trump had Epstein thrown out of Mar-A-Lago and banned after he allegedly made unwelcome advances to a young girl, and that Trump was the only member of high social circles in Manhattan who talked to the attorney for one of Epstein’s victims to help him nail Epstein?

Why are you attacking Acosta, who claims he got the toughest plea deal possible, given the thinness of the evidence, instead of all the local and federal officials who failed to build a stronger case, like the Miami prosecutor or then-FBI head Robert Mueller? 

Why are you making such strenuous efforts to attack the guy who actually prosecuted Epstein, and Trump, who refused even to speak to him for 15 years — while studiously ignoring all the famous Democrats in New York, Hollywood and Washington who continued to do business with Epstein, socialize with him (like Bill Clinton, who seems awfully confused about how many rides he took on Epstein’s private jet, the “Lolita Express,”) and help him (like New York DA Cyrus Vance Jr. who tried to lower the severity of Epstein’s sex offender ranking and make it easier for him to…ahem…”mingle.”)  

In short, why is your outrage so remarkably selective?

She points out that the billionaire Epstein, with his Hollywood and political connections, was one of the “elite,” and elitism protected him, just it protected Harvey Weinstein for so long.  And now that the crimes of the elites are finally coming to light, the elites are miraculously finding ways to blame them on the biggest enemy of the elites, the person the elites hate the most and refuse to associate with: Donald Trump.
