Since the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 decision overturning Roe v. Wade, the prolife movement has faced a new wave of hostility and aggression from pro-abortion forces, including violence against pregnancy care centers and churches.

Author and abortion debater Stephanie Gray Connors recently spoke with Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse about this. Connors is most known for her riveting pro-life presentation at Google headquarters that went viral in 2017. Since the age of eighteen, she has given more than a thousand pro-life presentations all over the world.

Through her new book, My Body for You: A Pro-life Message for a Post-Roe World, Connors provides arguments and insights for navigating the political and social situation in America today.

“The overturning of Roe was an obvious cause for celebration, but it was the winning of a battle, not the war,” Stephanie says. We still need “people to be as present, if not even more present, in the movement, and more active and more vocal because … now the battle is happening on a state level.”

“I feel a need to equip people of good will on how to address the issue at a more local level. I wrote this book, reflecting not only on my experience as a debater for two decades, but more recently as a mother.”

She draws on cases from the news, such as the couple who went out of state for a legal abortion after receiving a poor prognosis for their unborn baby. “Those of us who are going to live longer do not have a right to end the lives of those who are going to live shorter,” she says. “That child’s life should not have been shortened even further by the choice to commit homicide on that baby.”

State Department Pushes Gender Ideology, Ruth Institute Not Surprised

In the midst of wars throughout the world, and despite the recent killings of three American soldiers, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has focused his ostensibly valuable time on gender inclusivity. “As ridiculous as this is, it’s also not surprising,” said Morse.

Blinken’s cable to State Department employees was titled “Modeling DEIA: Gender Identity Best Practices” and aimed to “increase understanding of gender identity and provide guidance on gender identity language and best practices that support an inclusive work environment.”

“Hello? Our soldiers are being killed, but God forbid any government employee is misgendered,” Morse said, noting Blinken’s instructions for State Department employees to list pronouns in their/his/her/zir email signatures and when introducing themselves.

“That the U.S. State Department would take the time to instruct employees about the signature blocks of their emails and lecture them about inclusive language shows that the Biden administration takes this radical ideology very seriously,” she added. “The ‘woke’ undermining of U.S. foreign policy is comparable to the ‘woke’ undermining of the U.S. military, which was once the most powerful and feared military in the world. Many of our retired service members are appalled at the ‘transing’ of our armed forces. What must our enemies think of the US military now? Instead of feared, we’re becoming a farce.

“This is the Sexual State at work: using the full power of the US government to promote a toxic ideology that no normal person wants. If any of this were natural and normal, the government wouldn’t be needed to shove it down people’s throats,” Morse said. “It seems Blinken’s State Department has made exporting gender ideology a major part of U.S. foreign policy. This does not bode well for the strength of our country,” Morse concluded.
