Learning last night that the Democrat activist judge and biased O.J. jury in New York City had convicted Donald Trump of a ludicrous Rube Goldberg pile of expired, unproven, perjury-dependent misdemeanors bootstrapped into felonies, I felt a weird mix of emotions.

Exactly the way Winston Churchill must have when he learned of Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor. (Yes, you read that correctly. I’ll explain more below.)

Your New Litmus Test for Traitors and Sociopaths

On the one hand, this conviction is a despicable corruption of justice, which no informed American in good faith could actually support. And not one does. Here’s your litmus test from this day forward (you’re welcome.):

Any Republican or putative independent who won’t denounce this corrupt prosecution is your political opponent, like those who still opposed fighting Japan after Pearl Harbor. Any GOP stars who try to present themselves as “alternative” candidates for the nomination this year are today’s version of the traitor Tokyo Rose.

This attack by the White House (which sent New York its star attorney, Matthew Colangelo, to serve as the actual brains behind the indictment) on its opposition candidate could not be more heavy-handed or crass. It’s the kind of thing that happens in Judge Juan Merchan’s native country, Colombia. Rather than go back there, Merchan has chosen to import its corrupt institutions here.

This action by the Democrats and their captive courts discredits our system of justice, flouts 1,000 years of Anglo-American jurisprudence, and sows distrust and division in our country between the “red counties” and “blue cities.” How many Christians or conservatives will risk living or even shopping in the midst of urban hordes who make up juries like this one?

Trump Is the Tutsi Cockroach, the Kulak, the Scapegoat

The purge trial sees the conviction of an innocent man falsely accused of invented crimes by an admitted perjurer, who should have been unable to testify anyway thanks to attorney-client privilege, by jurors who simply hate him because of his politics, sex, and skin color. Trump represents the demonized white male, the scapegoated MAGA “quasi-fascist” or dog-whistle “Christian Nationalist.” And so he must be destroyed, using whatever weapons come to hand, like the victim of a lynch mob.

But Trump is far from the first. His show trial might help bring attention to the thousands of other victims of anarcho-tyranny and Deep State persecution across the country, such as the January 6 political prisoners, or others imprisoned for their political beliefs like Peter Navarro and John Eastman.

Hounded to His Grave, Then Democrats Danced on it

I cannot forget the legal persecution unto death of American combat hero and business owner Jake Gardner in 2020. Unlike George Floyd, Gardner wasn’t a career criminal who menaced pregnant women and took lethal doses of drugs. Instead, he was a bar owner in Omaha who tried to defend his aged father and business from a George Floyd rioter — then as the felon was strangling him, shot him in self-defense. The local prosecutor saw the attack on video, and declared it self-defense. Then after weeks of blue-city juror types besieged his home, that prosecutor hired a Soros-linked race-hustler to go after Gardner for first-degree murder and hate crimes. Evicted, falsely tarred as a white supremacist, stripped by GoFundMe of his legal defense fund, Gardner finally took his own life. And a Democrat legislator went on Twitter to gloat about it:

So Democrats and sellout Republicans are gloating now, as they did over the fake rape charges based on perjury aimed at U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, and the fake impeachments of Trump based on partisan fan-fiction from the Clinton campaign, and the 100% conviction rate of January defendants by D.C.’s trained-seal jurors.

So the Japanese General Staff gloated over Pearl Harbor. They thought they had crippled their rival, cowed its people, and won the power they craved over hundreds of millions of helpless subjects, from Nanking to Manila.

Little did they realize they had awakened a sleeping giant.

The Sleep of the Saved and Thankful

Winston Churchill realized that. Still standing almost alone against the Nazi empire, which then seemed likely to conquer Russia, Churchill saw Pearl Harbor in a very different light. Yes, he was disgusted by Japan’s treacherous methods — attacking sleeping troops without a declaration of war — and by the vast suffering such an expansion of the war must represent. But he also knew that Japan had grossly miscalculated, had stirred a force of vengeance that wouldn’t be placated short of unconditional surrender.

He saw in the sparks of Pearl Harbor a foreshadowing of the fires of Hiroshima.

As Peter Grier wrote:

The prime minister phoned Roosevelt, and asked “Mr. President, what’s this about Japan?” FDR responded that it was true, and they were all in the same boat now.

To Churchill, this meant one thing above all: victory. Britain was no longer alone. Finally, the US would enter the war.

“Being saturated and satiated with emotion and sensation, I went to bed and slept the sleep of the saved and thankful.”

And that’s frankly how I feel right now. Just 11 days ago I argued that an ugly attack like this would perversely cripple the left and help save our country:

The more Trump gets lawlessly persecuted, the angrier and more suspicious of our institutions [Americans] become. They start to recollect and wonder, “If the Authorities are willing to do this to Donald Trump, what would they do to little guys like me?”

We already have the answer in the form of the savage campaign of personal destruction aimed at Trump’s attorneys, advisors, and supporters — especially the political prisoners of January 6.

I wrote that the collapse of the lawless cases against Trump

would be a disaster. That would let our media, and much of the GOP try to convince the voting public that everything is normal. We still have a free country, fair elections, and objective, honest media. We’re all patriots here. Nobody’s acting like a South American dictator. Where would you get a crazy notion like that?

Instead,

Trump should insist on campaigning from jail, the way Lech Walesa was forced to under a similar authoritarian regime in Communist Poland.

Because that’s the kind of country we have become, and Americans need to see it, over and over again. Trump’s time in the lockup might be the only thing that will set the rest of us free.
