Looking ahead to 2018, I earnestly pray it’s the Year of Collapse.

May our society reach the end of its obsession with demolishing all things “traditional” merely because the traditional must now be despised.

May the pointless, costly war between men and women end, and may both sexes finally realize we need each other.

Let the fake conflict between biological sex and gender be permitted to fizzle out and fade away. It’s an embarrassing chapter in human history, for sure, so better to bring it to a close post-haste.

Most of all, may the freakish science experiments being inflicted on children in the name of sexual progress and “tolerance” cease. This is more than an embarrassment. Deliberately severing children from biological reality is child abuse. Chemically and surgically butchering healthy children’s bodies in service to the lunacy that a boy can become a girl and vice versa is a truly dark and shameful entry in mankind’s record.

May the ramped-up bitterness between the two sexes be allowed to collapse from exhaustion.

May the fury of our hatred for one another (or the hatred we’re told we should feel for one another?) be quenched. Let the animosity between black, white and brown be starved of fuel. Aren’t you tired of it?

May the nonsensical, fabricated, inhuman inventions of “gender queer,” “pangender,” “transgender,” asexual/no gender, and all the rest be allowed to crumple in a heap of rubble. It must all collapse in on itself, for it is inherently unstable and unsustainable.

Most of all, may God grant us the grace to be so revolted, so inconsolably grieved by the lust for the blood of our unborn children that we will at last make abortion both illegal and unthinkable. May our Moloch be denied and smashed to pieces.

And once all the dust has settled, perhaps people will be able to see again how amazing, how beautiful men and women are together. Maybe people will see the face of their neighbor, whatever the skin color, and smile. Perhaps all human life will be valued as it should.

Perhaps then, the family will become the rightful focus of our energy.

God’s Commands Bring Abundant Life

So yes, I pray the Lord will hasten the collapse of the madness. For after the collapse comes the rebuild. And Church, we’d better be ready to rush forward into the ruins and begin the reconstruction.

Rebuilding requires steel and rock. Rebuilding demands steadfastness. A foundation that will never shift. The rebuilding can only be accomplished by those who understand that people, families and societies cannot be sustained by relativistic, irrational precepts.

Christians must be the ones to model the freedom that comes from obedience to God’s laws, especially His laws regarding human sexuality and the family. The fact that many Christians fail to live up to the teachings of the Faith is not a reflection on the truth of the Faith, but only an indication that we humans are always vulnerable to sin. Everyone knows the history of God’s people is replete with adulterers, murderers, thieves and every other sort of scoundrel. King David, anyone? It’s no different in our time.

We are flawed, but there’s no flaw in the remedy. Only in our willingness to take it. God’s commands bring abundant life only if we follow them.

Christianity Defends Human Rights

It is Christ who teaches us to love our neighbor as ourselves. He taught us that whatever we do for the least among us, we do for Him.

It is Christianity that provides the solid, life and dignity-affirming principles by which men, women and children all flourish. It is Christianity that says every human person is made in the image of God. The sacrifice of Christ was for every human person, without exception. It is Christ who teaches us to love our neighbor as ourselves. He taught us that whatever we do for the least among us, we do for Him.

The Christian faith is what promotes the inviolate sanctity of marriage and of life itself. It was Christians who went into a pagan and hedonistic culture and taught men they were not entitled to sexual satisfaction at the expense of a woman’s dignity.

Christianity elevates women to their proper and equal worth and esteems the feminine genius. Christianity protects the innocence, the value, and the rights of children. It’s the Christian vision of the family that serves the good of every member, and the good of society as a whole.

Here We are Again

Now here we are again, in a hedonistic culture. Not so much post-Christian, since nothing comes after Christ, but pre-Christian once again, in need of conversion. The trappings of Christian living are not enough. Hearts must be changed.

There’s no more time for hesitancy, or sheepishly offered moral “suggestions.” As though life-saving medicine should be offered with an apology! Dare to tell the simple, liberating, objective truth that sets men free.

This madness can’t collapse soon enough. With Advent approaching, the time is ripe for an examination of conscience, repentance and a renewed commitment to virtuous living. If the flame in our own holy fire has grown dim and cold, then may God send us His Spirit to rekindle our love and fervor again.

After all, we cannot give a collapsing culture what we do not possess ourselves.
